Category: Friendships

Sadly, many church leaders find themselves alone and longing for true friendships. Moses had Aaron and Hur. David had Jonathan. Paul had Silas. But who do YOU have? An Ezer isn’t JUST about a “help-meet suitable for him,” it’s about genuine friendship built around a mutual faith in our Lord Jesus with a mutual mission and calling. Let’s help you get connected!

Happy Healthy Holy Household

Happy Healthy Holy Household

“Happy Healthy Holy Household”

(Deuteronomy 6:4-6; Matt 19:14; Ephesians 5:21-31)

Shouldn’t households grow Happy, Healthy and Holy together? We foresee this happening best in an environment that fosters and coaches men/husband/father in his role as the proactive spiritual leader of his household seeking to lead, love and train those under his authority to follow Christ. We’re talking about raising men up, honoring women, building solid marriages, training children in godliness.

So… what does this look like on an on-going basis? How does a church help a family wherever it’s at get to the place where each member of that family can say, “I have a happy, healthy and holy household” with sincerity?

Does this seem like a tall order to you? As a church leader, we sometimes look to programs to assist us in that because either:

1. We haven’t been discipled OURSELVES by our own dads and don’t know how to lead our families spiritually

2. We haven’t been discipled by our church leaders to the point where we are confident, competent and loving disciple-makers ourselves so WE can help families on a personal level.

3. We trust in programs way too much to provide results we think God wants.

4. We are too tired to make the effort (let’s admit it: sometimes I have even fallen into this category).

Are programs bad/evil? Not necessarily. They have their place. They can be a great asset and support to even the godliest of families. Remember the medieval saying, “Don’t throw out the Baby with the bathwater.” Use caution in starting or promoting programs which could possibly become the tail that wags the dog.

Want a Happy, healthy, holy household? Start with Deuteronomy 6.

Fireproof Your Marriage

Fireproof Your Marriage

Fireproof Your Marriage

We first saw Fireproof back in 2008. While working our own marriage, we want to help you fireproof your marriage too. Go see this movie! If you do what firefighter Captain Caleb Holt does with his wife (The 40 Day Love Dare), your marriage will benefit.

Men… One caution: BE PERSISTENT and don’t give up! Rescuing the Beauty in your life may be the most difficult adventure you ever undertake. She may even spit in your face (whether metaphorically or for real)! When I first took the Love Dare when our marriage was at its darkest point, over time it really had a strong and positive effect on us.

Remember the crushing weight of your own sins before you react negatively to her. Jesus forgave you TRILLIONS, compared to the thousands of sins your wife has grieved you with (Matthew 18:21-35). Love her. Forgive her. Move towards her. Initiate change in your marriage. Fireproof your marriage.

Watch Fireproof the movie, then buy the book to take the Love Dare. Move beyond mere dealing with marital conflict and Fireproof your marriage today!
