Does prayer do anything? Even a cursory read of Numbers 11:1-3 is easy to see a few interesting principles of life about complaining and God’s response, as well as a leader’s prayers and God’s response.
Complaining ticked even GOD off. Whoa! See where complaining gets us? When your children were little and you took them on an outing that might not have gone as planned, did they complain? Did they grumble? Did they WHINE?
Going through pain and trials? Are you complaining? Negativity gets us in trouble doesn’t it? Ever wondered does prayer do anything? Even God took offense at what Israel was complaining about:
“Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the LORD, and when He heard them His anger was aroused. Then fire from the LORD burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp” (Numbers 11:1, NIV).
Now that would be scary, wouldn’t it? “God is slow to anger and rich in love… He has compassion on all He has made” (Psalm 145:9). God is certainly gracious, merciful and loving.
